Ninggoowoong Woorrnging: The Miriwoong Family Song On June 9, a cohort of Year 3 students performed a Miriwoong song at the Kununurra District High School’s whole school assembly. This is the first time in recent memory that a song in an Indigenous language has been performed at the school.

New MDWg Publications This year has been a busy one for the team at MDWg. We’ve spent lots of time learning language from our Elders, continued recording on Waringarri Radio and taught Miriwoong to 400 woothoo-woothoong (children) each week.

Miriwoong Language Rescue This year, MDWg launched the Miriwoong Language Rescue (MLR) initiative. Modern Miriwoong This year, MDWg launched the Modern Miriwoong project. Modern Miriwoong is an initiative designed to increase the amount of Miriwoong signage displayed throughout Kununurra and its surrounds. Since the project launched in July, we have been busy approaching local businesses and organisations and offering language consultation.
MDWg wins at the East Kimberley Aboriginal Achievement Awards! On August 26 2017, MDWg were announced the Outstanding Organisation Contributing to Community Life at the East Kimberley Aboriginal Achievement Awards (EKAAAs).
